Purpose/Objective:

Circumstances in which a lawyer or paralegal must follow the rules of professional conduct when the defence comes into possession of evidence and must provide disclosure of such evidence to the prosecutor or police. This topic will assist attendees to identify these points, timelines and understand various situations to act proactively, and avoid such conduct for the best interest of their practice and public and/or clients.

Circumstances in which a lawyer or paralegal must avoid conflicts of interest and follow the rules of professional conduct when representing a client charged with a criminal offence, or potentially the subject of a criminal charge, and there are other persons or parties also charged or being investigated for the same offence who may be fellow workers or members of the same organization, or the organization itself is one of the co-defendants. This topic will assist attendees to identify these points, timelines and understand various situations to act proactively, and avoid such conduct for the best interest of their practice and public and/or clients
