What Is OSAP?

The Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) is government financial aid for eligible Ontario students. Based on the government’s assessment of your education costs and resources, OSAP offers a mix of repayable loans and grants that you do not repay. Who Is Eligible?

OSAP is open to:

• Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or protected persons;
• Ontario residents; and
• students in an OSAP-approved program at an OSAP-approved school.

What Is a Grant?

A grant is public funding that you do not pay back. It is usually based on financial need and other factors. Ontario and the federal government both offer grants and bursaries. Some require a separate application. See ontario.ca/osap for the current list.

Who Is the NSLSC?

The National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) administers your OSAP loan. After your loan is authorized, the NSLSC sends the funds. When you are no longer a full-time student, you repay your loan to the NSLSC. Create an account on the NSLSC website to track your loan.
