OSAP Q & A

When should I start the OSAP or admission application?

Start the admission enrollment and OSAP application at least 30–40 days before your program start date.

Who is eligible for OSAP?

Generally, you must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or protected person; meet Ontario residency requirements; be enrolled full-time in an approved diploma program; maintain academic progress; and demonstrate financial need. International students are not eligible.

How long does OSAP processing take?

Processing typically takes 4–6 weeks after submission. It may take longer if documents are missing or incomplete.

What is the MSFAA?

The Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA) is a legal agreement outlining your responsibilities when receiving and repaying student loans.

When are fees due?

Fees must be paid before the program start date. Even if OSAP pays the institution directly, students are responsible for ensuring fees are covered.

When will I receive my OSAP funding?

Funding is released according to the OSAP schedule once enrollment is confirmed and required documents are approved.
