Admission Requirements
The course has open enrolment. No academic prerequisites, such as a secondary school diploma, are required.
Industry Professionals
- For home inspectors, trades workers, contractors, and real estate agents.
- Prerequisites: none.
- A working knowledge of property maintenance, construction, or real estate is recommended.
General Interest
- For homeowners, property investors, and DIY learners.
- Prerequisites: none. No trade experience is needed.
- An interest in property evaluation, smart home technology, and defect recognition.
All applicants: a functional understanding of English (reading and writing) is required, as the course uses technical terms and AI software. Online students need a reliable internet connection and a computer or tablet.
International Applicants
- Applicants from any country are welcome.
- This course runs less than six months. A study permit and a Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) are not required. Applicants in Canada are responsible for making sure their status allows short-term study.
- Completion does not qualify a student for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Delivery and Assessment
100% Online
Self-paced study through the College learning management system (LMS), with real-time instructor support. Practical skills are assessed through instructor-monitored online evaluations.
100% In Person (Vaughan Campus)
Instructor-led classes with hands-on practical training. Attendance requirements are set out in the course syllabus.
In both formats, written examinations are completed online and are open-book. LMS orientation details are provided to all students before classes begin. Online students must meet the College System Requirements.

- Flying a drone in Canada may require a drone pilot certificate from Transport Canada. This course does not provide one.
