The Certificate in Architectural Drafting Fundamentals and the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) modules offered by Can-College are skill-based vocational training programs. Completion of these programs results in a college-issued Certificate. These programs are designed to provide technical proficiency in drafting, CAD software, AI tools, and building code interpretation.
Please be advised that completion of these courses does not grant the right to use the protected titles of "Architect" or "Professional Engineer" in the Province of Ontario.
Architecture: Licensing is governed by the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA).
Engineering: Licensing is governed by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). Can-College does not grant professional licensure. Graduates typically work as Architectural Drafters, Technicians, or Assistants under the supervision of a licensed professional.
In Ontario, individuals who wish to engage in the design of buildings for the public or provide certain design services must generally be registered with the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) and hold a Building Code Identification Number (BCIN). While this program teaches the 2026 Ontario Building Code, it does not automatically grant a BCIN. Students are encouraged to pursue independent provincial exams if they wish to become qualified designers for permit applications.
While this program covers Generative AI and Automated Drafting Tools, students are taught that AI-generated content must always be verified by a human professional for structural integrity, safety, and legal compliance. Can-College is not liable for technical errors resulting from the misuse of third-party AI software.
