1. Scope of Training This program is designed as a concise, skill-focused professional certificate. While the curriculum provides intensive training in digital health systems and records management, it is intended to supplement existing knowledge or provide entry-level technical proficiency. It does not replace comprehensive degree programs in Health Informatics or Medical Science, nor does it grant clinical medical licenses or regulatory certifications (such as Registered Health Information Administrator status) without further external examinations.
2. Continued Professional Development (CPD) The modules within this course are structured to meet the high standards of Continued Professional Development (CPD). The materials are curated to help active professionals maintain, improve, and broaden their knowledge and skills. It is the responsibility of the student to verify with their specific professional association or regulatory body that these contact hours (10-40 hours per module) meet their specific annual CPD requirements.
3. Accuracy and Regulatory Changes Digital health laws and software platforms (such as privacy regulations and EHR interfaces) are subject to frequent updates. Can College makes every effort to ensure course materials are current; however, students are encouraged to stay informed of regional legislative changes (such as PHIPA in Ontario) that may occur after the completion of the program.
4. Employment Outcomes Can College provides industry-aligned training designed to enhance employability. However, completion of this professional certificate does not guarantee employment. Career success depends on the student’s prior experience, regional job market conditions, and individual performance.
5. Admission and Prerequisites Admission is granted based on the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or the Mature Student Assessment (MSA). This program is inclusive and has no age limit; however, a basic level of computer literacy is required to successfully navigate the 100% online or hybrid learning environments.

***Additional Education-Related Admission Option
If a prospective student does not have a grade 12 education certificate
which is equivalent to a Canadian secondary school certificate due to
any reason, the college will still consider the student for admission to
its programs if the student passes a qualifying test that has been
approved by the Superintendent (The Ministry of Training, Colleges and
Universities Ontario).
What qualifies you as a mature student?
“Mature Student Test” or “Mature Student Assessment”
Mature student status may be granted to applicants who are over 19 years old and do not have a high school diploma or GED. It is intended to allow applicants who have not completed high school the opportunity to be considered for admission based on the skills and experience they have acquired since leaving school.
